FAQ

This is my first photoshoot... what should I know?

Absolutely nothing!

Seriously.

You don't need to know how to pose, where to look, or what to do with your hands (I promise you're not the only one wondering that!).

My job is to guide you every step of the way. I'll give you prompts instead of stiff poses so your photos feel natural and actually look like you. The best photos usually happen in the in-between moments—the laughter after a bad joke, a forehead kiss, your little one running in for a hug, or the way you naturally look at each other.

All you have to do is show up, be yourselves, and trust the process.

I'm SO awkward in front of the camera...

If I had a dollar for every time someone told me this, I would be living in a villa in Italy by now.

I promise—almost everyone says they're awkward before their session. And almost everyone leaves saying, *"That was actually so much fun!"*

My sessions are designed to feel more like hanging out than standing in front of a camera. I'll keep you moving, chatting, laughing, and interacting naturally so you're never left wondering, *"Okay... now what?"*

Being awkward is welcome here. Honestly, it's usually where the best laughs come from.

I don't want those awkward family photos from 2010 where everyone looks miserable...

Good news... neither do I.

Gone are the days of standing shoulder-to-shoulder, staring at the camera, wondering when it's going to be over.

Of course we'll capture a few "everyone looking at the camera" photos (because Grandma will absolutely want one), but the majority of your gallery will be full of movement, connection, laughter, cuddles, and genuine moments.

My goal isn't perfection—it's preserving your family exactly as you are

What if the weather is bad?

Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate—and that's okay!

I'll keep an eye on the forecast leading up to your session. If the weather isn't looking ideal (heavy rain, strong winds, or unsafe conditions), we'll simply reschedule for another day at no additional cost.

I'd much rather wait for beautiful weather than rush through a session where everyone is cold, wet, or uncomfortable.

My house isn't Pinterest-worthy... can we still do an in-home session?

YES.

In fact, I'd encourage it.

Your home doesn't need to look like it belongs in a magazine—it just needs to look like home.

We'll use the rooms with the best natural light, and if we need to move a laundry basket or fold a blanket, we'll do it together.

Years from now, you'll remember the nursery, the rocking chair, and the couch where you spent countless cuddles far more than whether your countertops were spotless.

What should we wear?

Wear something that feels like you.

I generally recommend neutral or earthy colours and outfits that coordinate rather than match exactly. The most important thing is that you're comfortable and feel confident.

Once you're booked, I'll also send over a style guide with lots of inspiration!

What if my kids don't cooperate?

And my absolute favourite FAQ... What if my kids don't cooperate?

Perfect.

Because kids aren't supposed to.

Some of my favourite photos come from chasing bubbles, exploring the woods, collecting rocks, stopping for snack breaks, or taking a moment for a cuddle when someone needs one.

Children don't have to sit still or smile perfectly for beautiful photos. I photograph them exactly as they are.

Sometimes the little moments in between are the ones you'll treasure most.
