A beautiful Victoria Wedding

Some weddings are beautiful because of the venue, the flowers, or the details. And then there are weddings that are beautiful because every single part of them feels like the people getting married.

Fisher and Saniyya’s wedding was exactly that.

After celebrating their Nikkah ceremony in Calgary, Alberta, they gathered with their closest family and friends at Fisher’s parents’ property just outside downtown Victoria to celebrate their marriage.

The setting was beautiful, but what made the day so special was how much of it came from the people around them.

The flowers were grown right in Fisher’s parents’ garden. His brother cooked the food. Every piece of dishware was thrifted. Their Pakistani culture was woven throughout the celebration, alongside the history and character of his family’s Victoria property.

Their wedding favours were candles made by a family friend, each one engraved with Fisher and Saniyya’s names and wedding date. Every guest got to take one home — a little piece of the day to keep long after the celebration was over.

The florals were some of Saniyya’s favourites, carefully chosen and then planted and grown by Fisher’s mom specifically for their wedding day.

Their ceremony arch was built from branches cut from a tree on the family property and decorated with handmade paper flowers, created so everything would look exactly as intended when the day finally arrived.

For months, Fisher, Saniyya, their families, and their friends thrifted dishes, glassware, serving plates, and all the little pieces that would eventually make up their tables. Nothing was perfectly matched, and that was exactly what made it beautiful. Together, they created a colourful, collected tablescape that felt completely at home on the property.

A day made by their people, filled with the things they love,

and completely their own.
