Eight years together, a family vintage car, and a little bit of Pride & Prejudice meets Bridgerton.
Emma and Nick met in high school and, from what I can tell, have been pretty inseparable ever since.
After eight years together, they’re officially engaged and planning the next chapter of their lives together.
There’s something really special about photographing a couple who has already grown up together. You can see the history in the way they interact — the comfort, the inside jokes, the ease of being around someone who has been there through so many different versions of you.
And I have a bit of a soft spot for that.
I married my own high school sweetheart in 2024. He was actually the boy I had a crush on in Grade 6, so I know firsthand that loving someone from a young age is about more than simply having a long relationship. There’s a lot of growing, changing, and figuring out who you are along the way — and choosing each other through all of it.
So getting to photograph Emma and Nick at this point in their story felt especially meaningful.

A little Pride & Prejudice, a little Bridgerton

For their engagement session at Government House in Edmonton, we wanted something that felt a little different.
Think Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice, and Bridgerton — old architecture, dramatic columns, warm evening light, and a little bit of romance without making everything feel too serious.
Government House was the perfect backdrop. The historic architecture gave us those more editorial, intentional portraits, while the surrounding grounds gave us room to let things unfold more naturally.
And then there was the vintage car.
The car belongs to Nick’s family, which made bringing it into the session that much more special. It wasn’t just a beautiful prop — it was something that already had a connection to their family and their story.
That’s the kind of detail I love incorporating into sessions. The things that actually mean something to you will always make the photographs feel more personal.
