A matchmaker who found her own match, a long-distance love story, and a vintage truck with a story of its own.
Megan spends her days helping other people find love through her own matchmaking business. Thankfully, she managed to find her person, too.
Megan and Nick had been navigating a long-distance relationship for over a year before they even met in person. When I had the chance to join them for a date night in Edmonton before Nick headed back home, I knew we were going to capture something special.
These two were so much fun to work with. They were kind, genuine, and completely up for anything I suggested. There was no pressure to make every moment perfect or to get every pose just right. They were simply happy to spend time together, and that made my job easy.
A little romance at Alexander Circle
We started at Alexander Circle, where the architecture and surrounding greenery gave us the perfect setting for some dreamy, editorial-inspired photographs.
I love locations like this because they allow us to create something a little more polished and intentional while still leaving room for the candid moments that make a gallery feel personal. We could slow things down for a few portraits, then let Megan and Nick interact naturally and see what unfolded.
You don't need an elaborate plan or a perfectly styled session to create beautiful photographs. Sometimes, all you need is two people who are excited to be together and a little space to let things happen.
And these two certainly delivered.
A vintage truck and a piece of Megan’s story
One of the most meaningful parts of the evening was incorporating Megan’s vintage truck.
The truck was something she and her dad had been working on together before he passed away. Bringing it along wasn't just about adding something different to the photographs. It was a way to include a piece of him in this part of her life.
I think that's one of the things I love most about photography: the things we choose to include in our photographs can hold so much more meaning than someone else might ever realize.
To anyone else, it might be a beautiful vintage truck. To Megan, it's a connection to her dad, the time they spent working on it together, and the memories that remain.
Having it there while documenting this chapter of her relationship with Nick felt like such a special way to honour that connection.
Those are the details that make photographs personal. They aren't just beautiful things to look at; they're reminders of the people, places, and experiences that have shaped us.
